Google Fiber is considering expansion into the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Carrboro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Garner, Morrisville).
A decision is expected this year after Google completes the vetting process.
Raleigh and Friends are competing with eight other US metropolitan areas to attract Google Fiber.
An interesting tidbit – latest Ookla report shows the US ranks 33rd in the world in download speeds and 43rd in the world in upload speeds. That’s bad.
Google Fiber offers internet speeds around 100 times faster than most of us presently use.
This will be a great boost for the Triangle if we succeed.
Love that Logo.
WRAL Raleigh Christmas Parade will be held either Saturday or Sunday (rain date is Sunday). Though it may seem odd to present a Christmas Parade before Thanksgiving, this has been the tradition in Raleigh. It helps the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association and Shop Local kick off the shopping season. Even Black Friday starts early this year.
Mix a little food, beverage and wrestling into your Christmas Parade and call it a well-rounded weekend. The Saturday Market at Rebus Works in Boylan Heights will host a pre-vegetation celebration with Gouge Wrestling and Food Truck Rodeo. Sounds like fun.
